Karen was the Chair of the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA) from 2011 to 2014. The CVGA is a not-for-profit organisation with members comprising 13 local governments. The CVGA plays a key role in creating sustainable, climate-aware communities and profitable, climate-friendly economies in the Central Victorian region.
The CVGA has been a fantastically successful initiative since it was set up in 2006 to address climate change: catalysing the development of 11 Greenhouse Alliances across Victoria, as well as creating and managing Sustainable Regional Australia to deliver region–wide energy projects and research including the $41 million Central Victoria Solar City project and the $700,000 Your Business Your Future Program.
In her role as Chair, Karen drove a large organisational restructure recreating the CVGA as a backbone organisation for collective impact in the region.
